Historically, the mosque was not considered an iconic building, but served as a communal space in addition to worship. The sacred mosque space was differed from the congestion and commotion of the outside of the mosque.Ibda envision mosque as oasis where people can remote him/herself from bustle of the City. The mound acts as buffer to create a spatial shift that takes worshippers from the street environment to the serene space of worship through a series of natural sloped landscape and inviting arches. The garden and the prayer halls are encircled within an oval Riwaq of the mound. The garden acts as an extension of the internal prayer halls and offers additional space for prayer, reading, and personal reflection, while being open to the public throughout the day, rather than just at prayer time. Ibda envision both Mound and Garden landscapes as ecofriendly landscape with Local plants selections require less irrigation water consumption. Natural light and the design of artificial lighting have a fundamental effect on the atmosphere of sacred spaces. Light determine the spatial qualities of a space. Light can accentuate, create an atmosphere of contemplation and composure, foster togetherness in prayer. Conceptually and spatially, Light is both a physical component and a spiritual element in the mosque.
