Tokyo, Japan
As the Tokyo home of a young American photographer, N House aims for a new style of living that is representative of Tokyo life, featuring a series of small, individual spaces and new environments waiting to be discovered. This is in opposition to the typical house, which becomes a well-known building, fully explored, and decidedly routine. The architecture of N House is comprised of three layers of doors – weather doors, aluminum doors, and interior sliding doors – which are used as a device to control the interior environment. This adaptability gives the architectural interiors different expressions, allowing its inhabitant to adjust them as needed and transform the living spaces of the house.
