Hokkaido, Japan
This project is a complex of clinics, shared offices, and housing for a pharmaceutical company. The elevated site is surrounded by sacred greenery at the foot of Miyanomori on Hokkaido. The building was designed to resemble a stratified, almost mineral object, like a hill. The exterior walls are made from metal plates with different roofing methods and layered on top of one another. The staircase in the atrium forms an irregular volume as it ascends towards the top floor and serves as a gallery dedicated to the company’s history.
