Hokkaido, Japan
Nest in Nature—this overarching concept guides the vision for a new hotel condominium in Hokkaido Niseko, Japan, conceived as an architectural grove seamlessly merging with its pristine surroundings.
In response to the substantial building mass demanded by its natural grandeur, the concrete structure will be adorned with intricate rib-like detailing that evokes the textures of tree bark, allowing the architecture to slip gently into the white birch forest that envelops it.
Inside, the design aspires to create a unified world that evokes living among the trees, while introducing subtle variations in each space. Two core ideas underpin the interior concept: “Experience of Wild Nature”—immersing oneself in the essence of the natural world, and “YOHAKU NO BI”—harmony with Japanese aesthetics, where elements are placed to honor the richness that exists in unfi lled space rather than crowding it with excess decoration.By weaving in “Inspiration from Phenomena”—reinterpretations of natural occurrences—throughout the environment, guests will continually be reminded that they are part of nature, even within a setting of refi ned luxury. This series of spatial experiences fosters a sense of oneness with the surrounding landscape, bringing every moment closer to an unbroken communion with the wild.
