Hokkaido, Japan
Makkari Farmer’s Village is a masterplan complex that features an organic food restaurant and cooking school, plus additional program of hotel, retail shops, and offices. Given that the project client is a company that sells organic foods through the internet, the project aims to establish a physical location for the business within Hokkaido’s rich nature.
Architecturally, the masterplan proposes a layout of buildings and circulation paths that achieve fluidity. Navigating the project offers a dynamic experience to its visitors, allowing for a natural transition between activities as they walk amongst the mountainous landscape. Within the individual buildings, material transparencies dissolve the boundaries between interior and exterior, capitalizing on the natural benefits of the site.
This project was done in collaboration with Fukushima Koumuten and Ksuke Fukushima (N LLC.)
