Hokkaido, Japan
Makkari Farmers’ Village is a master plan for a complex that features an organic food restaurant and cooking school, as well as a hotel, shops, and offices. The client sells organic foods through the internet and wanted a physical location that would connect with the multifaceted natural environment of Hokkaido.
The buildings and circulation paths create a fluid, dynamic experience for visitors and easy transitions between activities within the mountainous landscape. Inside the buildings, material transparencies dissolve the boundaries between interior and exterior, embracing the nature that surrounds the site.
This project was realized in collaboration with Fukushima Koumuten and Ksuke Fukushima.
